The Société Chimique ALKIMIA, has been founded on September 26th, 1972 and started production in 1976 with a design capacity of 30 000 tons per year (tpy) of technical sodium tripolyphosphate (STPP; Na5P3O10). It is a totally exporting company governed by the Tunisian law N° 93-120 of December 27, 1993.
The Sodium tripolyphosphate produced by the Société Chimique ALKIMIA is a phosphate salt obtained through a chemical process of neutralization of the phosphoric acid (H3PO4), produced by the Tunisian Chemical Group, by soda ash (Na2CO3), imported from the USA.
The STPP is used mainly in the powders detergent industries and secondary in the ceramic one. See attached SDS.
The Société Chimique ALKIMIA has made several projects of technical developments and expansions to improve the quality of its product and achieve the capacity of 140000 tpa in July 2004.
After having increased the production capacity of sodium tripolyphosphate to 140,000 tpa and renovated its facilities, the Société Chimique ALKIMIA has now reached a stage of development which allows it to produce and market other chemicals.
Thus, it has been decided in Novembre 2009 to create ALKIMIA-Packaging Ltd subsidiary at 100%, for packaging and marketing of soda ash (Na2CO3) in Tunisia and North Africa. See attached SDS
Also, Les Salines de Tataouine Ltd, subsidiary at 100%, was created in August 2011 for extraction, production and marketing of sodium sulfate (Na2SO4) in Tunisia, North Africa and Europ. See attached SDS
